SURF 3D

METIS SURF 3D compact surface scanner

METIS SURF 3D

The new compact surface scanner for the decor industry

SURF 3D is a revolutionary scanner that offers high-quality and high-speed scanning in a compact design. It is specially designed for medium-sized digital printing applications, medium-sized ceramic and wallpaper applications, and 3D rendering applications.

SURF 3D can capture colour, calculate 3D embossing, and determine glossiness information in under a minute for materials like wooden planks, tanned leather, fabrics, textiles, ceramics, natural stone, wallpapers, fine arts, and more.

With cutting-edge features not available in ordinary scanners, the SURF 3D scanner provides those in the decor industry with the advanced technology they need to take their processes to the next level.

Key Features of the METIS SURF 3D:

  • Functionalities not available in ordinary scanners

    Comes with features not available in ordinary scanners such as extended customisation over the lighting of the original and 3D embossing data (e.g. for use in 3D printing or embossing applications).

  • Perfect for a range of demanding applications

    The SURF 3D® scanner is specifically designed for the following applications:

    • medium-sized digital printing applications requiring colour and 3D data (e.g. reproduction of small fine arts, customised phone covers, restaurant menus with fancy covers, wrapping objects with special materials, creating gadgets, small productions, proofing, etc.);
    • medium-sized ceramic and wallpaper applications;
    • 3D rendering applications, where the scanner can be used to capture material properties (Diffuse Map, Bump Map, etc.) in order to perfectly reproduce the material in CGI and CAD applications.

  • Generate colour-accurate high-resolution images

    This scanner can generate colour-accurate high-resolution images including a 3D Depth Map (embossing data) and Glossiness Map (representing the surface's reflection properties).

  • Very easy to operate

    The SURF 3D® scanning software is designed to offer straightforward usability without sacrificing performance and image quality.

  • Fine-tune outputs for specific use cases thanks to the METIS Light Inspector software

    This scanner integrates the METIS Light Inspector software which allows designers, creatives and other types of users to optimise colour and embossing data for a specific output or use.

  • Profile all kinds of printers with ease

    Features the unique ability to use the scanner in order to quickly and effectively profile any kind of printer without the need for using a dedicated instrument (e.g. a Spectrophotometer).
